After overcoming various frictions with the U.S. military\u2014the governing authority at the time\u2014it was finally completed in late March of the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the tallest lighthouse in the Nansei Islands, standing <strong>31 meters high<\/strong>, its observation deck offers a panoramic view of the East China Sea and its many scattered islands. To the north, you can see as far as Nago, Motobu, and <strong>Ie Island<\/strong>, while to the south, the gaze stretches from Chatan and Ginowan to the southwestern reaches of Okinawa\u2019s main island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-icon_announce\">To reach the observation deck, you must climb <strong>99 narrow steps<\/strong> within the cylindrical tower. Once you finish the 30-meter ascent, a breathtaking view opens up right before your eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-big_icon_caution\"><strong>A quick word of caution, though:<\/strong> the observation deck is quite narrow. With the ocean sprawling directly beneath you just past the railing, it can be a dizzying experience. In the late 14th century, during the Sanzan period, he served King Satto of the Chuzan Kingdom. He crossed the sea a total of five times, bringing immense wealth and new culture back to Ryukyu. Because of this, he is worshipped as the <strong>&#8220;God of Commerce.&#8221;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Symbolizing the &#8220;Road to China&#8221;:<\/strong> The statue at Cape Zanpa points toward mainland China far across the horizon, telling the story of the grand scale of international exchange that existed centuries ago.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local Hero:<\/strong> Legend has it that Taiki was born in Uza, right here in <strong>Yomitan Village<\/strong>. The statue was erected at the Cape to honor him as a local hero.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"swl-marker mark_orange\">A Life of Courage<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>During that era, sailing to China was a life-threatening undertaking.
